Kayli and Tom

Yesterday I went for a little wander around Araluen Botanic Gardens with the lovely Kayli and Tom. These guys were so much fun! It was really great to work with a couple who just didn't take themselves too seriously at all, they just wanted to have some fun. Kayli was giggling her head off the whole time and that, along with their beautiful love for each other, made my job super easy :)

Araulen is such an inspiring place to work in...... we couldn't even manage to walk 10m without me saying "GUYS we have to stop and take a photo here". They were very good sports about it :)

Thanks for a fun, easy going afternoon Kayli and Tom :)
Here are a few of their photos.

Autumn in the Bush with Jessie

I went for a wander in the bush with my friend Jessie a few days ago.

I had one shoot originally planned with Jessie, which was for my Greek Mythology portfolio (photo won't be released for a little while yet though) :)
Straight after that shoot we shot a few more portraits in the dead ivy crown that mum and I made, then we got talking about other photos that would look really cool and before you know it we had Jessie organised to come back the next day for another shoot.

We decided that we wanted to do a bit of an old-worldly, yesteryear look, so we both hit the op shops before the shoot and got two perfect dresses for the grand price of $8.50.

We headed out on the Rails to Trails tracks where I often go walking with my Salty Sea Dog, as that place just has a real feel about it. It's like stepping into another world for me, especially at this time of year.

Jessie was an incredibly graceful and elegant model, but was also quite competent in the art  of whacking spider webs out of the path with a stick. A true all rounder.
Jessie just has the most amazing hair, and when you combined it with the autumn colours of the bush it just came to life.

Shooting such a happy and funny person who also has such glorious skin and hair in the beautiful Margaret River bush just makes me so so so happy.

I shot most of these with my Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM again, I just can't go past that lens for portraits. I love the soft feel it creates.

p.s Thanks mum for being the artificial wind x

Eddy

Had a shoot last week with my old friend Eddy.
Ed's a drifter. He's sometimes in Margs, sometimes in Perth and sometimes in Indo.
He always has something to tell you about the world and always leaves you feeling a little bit lighter about life.
The last week or so I kept bumping into him at the dog beach early in the morning with his Yelo coffee in hand and Popeye the Jack Russell at his side, so I managed to lock him in for a shoot.
The weather really turned on for us, easterly winds with the best sunset I've seen in a while.

Throughout the shoot I didn't give Eddy a single direction, he was just telling his stories and I was just taking my photos. Every now and then he'd say "want me to do a headstand on my skateboard?" or "want me to do some ballet in the water?". Cool.

I used my Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 II USM for a few of the portraits from this shoot which I don't usually do, but I thought it might suit Ed and his story telling .. I was also trying to get a bit more of a variety of shots within my portraits, as I usually just go straight for the close up photos with my Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM. I can never resist the beautiful soft feel this lens produces. I just really love faces and the intimacy and cool compositions you can create when you're right up close, which is a bit odd because I'm not like that at all as a human, just as a photographer. Shooting wide angle portraits was refreshing for me though and I'm loving the different feel it gives the images.

Here is a little visual story from my afternoon with Eddy.
